Keyword field best practices
Use singular nouns, no spaces, no brand names of competitors, and no category names Apple already assigns. Pair this with the character counter for title and subtitle limits.
FAQ
- What is the App Store keyword field limit?
- Apple's keyword field accepts up to 100 bytes in UTF-8 encoding — not 100 characters. Plain ASCII keywords use one byte per character; emoji and CJK characters use 2–4 bytes each.
- Should App Store keywords have spaces?
- No spaces after commas. Apple expects comma-separated keywords with no spaces (invoice, scanner not invoice, scanner). Spaces waste bytes.
- Can I repeat words from my app title in the keyword field?
- You can, but Apple already indexes title and subtitle words. Repeating them wastes bytes — this tool can strip those overlaps automatically.
- Does this tool upload my keywords?
- No. Everything runs in your browser.
